We were appointed to deliver the full architectural package for a substantial alteration and extension project to a stone-built dwelling on Ramsbottom Road. The brief was to significantly improve day-to-day living space, introduce stronger connections to the garden and views, and create a clear hierarchy of rooms suited to modern family life.

The proposals comprise a single-storey wrap-around extension, carefully massed to sit comfortably alongside the existing building. The extension is designed to expand the ground floor accommodation while maintaining a coherent relationship with the original house, using complementary proportions and materiality.

A key architectural move is the introduction of full-height feature glazing, which brings generous natural light deep into the plan and creates a strong visual connection to the external spaces. Internally, the reconfigured layout supports a more open and sociable arrangement while retaining defined zones for cooking, dining and family living.

In addition to the extension works, the scheme includes a garage conversion to unlock further usable floor area, alongside a new balcony off the master suite and a roof terrace formed over the rear extension. These elements provide valuable private amenity space and enhance the overall experience of the home, while being integrated into the architecture with a considered and restrained approach.

The project is currently at pre-construction stage, with the design developed through to technical detail in preparation for delivery on site.
