A substantial replacement dwelling designed from the ground up, drawing on traditional English country house proportions.
A substantial replacement dwelling designed for a private client. The brief was to create a refined family residence that genuinely belongs in its setting, replacing an existing dwelling with something built to last.
The design draws from the proportions and character of traditional English country houses, with strong roof forms, a clear hierarchy of volumes and naturally proportioned windows, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens.
Principal living spaces are oriented to make the most of natural light and long views across the surrounding countryside. The approach to the house is deliberately understated, sitting comfortably within its context rather than competing with it.
