Residential Architecture in Liverpool
Baltik Architecture is based in Liverpool's Baltic Triangle and works with homeowners across the city on some of the most ambitious residential projects in the region. From substantial extensions to carefully designed new build homes, we bring a director-led, design-focused approach to every project from the first conversation through to completion.
High-end residential design across Liverpool and beyond
Liverpool's residential neighbourhoods are among the most architecturally varied in the North West. From the wide leafy streets of Mossley Hill and Aigburth to the established family homes of Woolton, Childwall, and Allerton — and the period properties of Sefton Park and Princes Park — these are areas where considered design, careful planning, and the right technical knowledge make a genuine difference to the outcome.
We understand Liverpool City Council's planning framework, including the particular sensitivities around conservation areas, Article 4 directions, and the locally listed buildings that define so much of the city's residential character. That knowledge shapes how we approach every project from day one.
What we do
Our work in Liverpool spans two areas: residential extensions that transform existing homes, and bespoke new builds designed from the ground up. Both are approached with the same level of care.
For extensions, we work on projects that go beyond simply adding space reorganising layouts, improving how light moves through a home, and ensuring the new sits comfortably alongside the existing. For new builds, we work closely with clients from the earliest feasibility stage, helping navigate planning policy and designing homes that are specific to the site, the brief, and the people who will live in them.
Every project is led personally by George Barr, founder and Chartered Architectural Technologist. There are no handovers, no junior staff managing your project the same person who sits with you at the first meeting is the one drawing the details and answering questions on site.

Do I need an Architect for a home extension or new build in the Liverpool?
Strictly speaking, you don't legally need an architect for most residential projects. But for high-end extensions and bespoke new builds, the question isn't whether you need one it's whether you can afford not to have the right one.
A well-designed home extension doesn't just add space. It adds value, improves how the whole house works, and stands the test of time. A poorly conceived one does the opposite. The same applies to new builds the decisions made at the design stage determine everything that follows, including how well the project performs through planning, how accurately it can be costed, and how well it's built.
